Tradition Starts Here: College Hockey's Most Historic and Successful League Launches New Era, Website

Dear Friends,

College hockey's most historic and successful league, the 62-year-old Western Collegiate Hockey Association, has been home to a record 37 men's national championship teams since its founding in 1951, a record 16 Hobey Baker Memorial Award winners, more than 430 National Hockey League players, 350 All-Americans, and 115 Olympians.

With the coming 2013-14 season, the men's WCHA is launching an exciting new era with a tremendously competitive group of 10 prominent university programs that combine the very best in both athletics and academics. The University of Alabama Huntsville, the University of Alaska Anchorage, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Bemidji State University, Bowling Green State University, Ferris State University, Lake Superior State University, Michigan Technological University, Minnesota State University and Northern Michigan University are all tremendous ice hockey programs with great and long-standing traditions, and we are all geared up for what will be a truly memorable campaign.

Coinciding with the launch of the 2013-14 campaign, we today present an all-new WCHA.com, one which we feel showcases our league, its member programs and its great history and tradition in a first-class manner. We are showcasing a dynamic new WCHA logo and colors allowing for a more vibrant site.

We have streamlined our home page with a stronger visual Top Stories section, the continuation of Campus News where visitors will get the latest from our member campuses, and the addition of the WCHA twitter feed. And once we launch the new season, we will be adding additional features to the home page.

Our member team home pages have been rebuilt to provide quick access to all important data including team and player statistics, schedules, results and rosters. We will also continue to upgrade the statistics platform with a new filtered stats feature and an upgrade to individual player pages.

The all-new WCHA.com is a work in progress that will continue to evolve throughout the off-season and we are going to be extremely excited to share with you the history, passion and tradition of this great league and its programs.
